McDonald’s and Travis Scott are making history as the rapper and well-known fast-food franchise are gearing up to release their collaborative menu item the Cactus Jack. Travis Scott will be the first artist in 30 years to have their name listed on a McDonald’s menu since 1990. McDonald’s released a “McJordan” burger in combination with Michael Jordan during the early 90s.
Now, they’re bringing back the nostalgic atmosphere by renaming one of their burgers after the Grammy Award-winning artist Travis Scott. For a limited time, the McDonalds Quarter Pound can be ordered by simply telling your cashier you want the Travis Scott Meal.
The entire limited-time meal promotion lasts until October 4. McDonald’s made the announcement about the collaboration in a Tweet posted to its official company Twitter account.
What it means
In a statement about the new collaboration, Travis Scott said the following: “I couldn’t be more excited to bring the Cactus Jack x McDonald’s collaboration to life, we are bringing together two iconic worlds.” The quarter pounder with cheese is Travis Scott’s favorite McDonald’s menu item, so it’s easy to see why he chose this burger to rename for the collaboration.
Travis Scott added a few condiments to the regular quarter pounder burger like bacon and lettuce. You also get a complimentary Sprite with your meal when placing your order in addition to some BBQ sauce and a side of fries.
You can purchase the Travis Scott and McDonald’s collaboration for only $6. Morgan Flatley, who is McDonald’s Chief Marketing Officer made the following statement: “Everyone has a favorite McDonald’s meal, no matter who you are, we’re excited to bring the Travis Scott Meal to a McDonald’s near you starting next week.”
This was a strategic move by McDonald’s as the company itself operates on very low profit margins. By offering a limited time promotion like the one found in the Travis Scoot meal bundle, they are able to distinguish themselves from the competition to hopefully rake in more profits for the moment being.
Travis Scott and McDonald’s also plan on making substantial contributions to multiple charities during this month-long promotion. McDonald’s shared a Tweet this past Thursday in which they encouraged customers to go try the new Travis Scott meal deal.
In the Tweet, the company posted a burger and cactus emoji nodding towards the collaboration between the two entities. Travis Scott backed the Tweet by posting a photo of McDonalds fries along with the caption “Cactus Jack for McDonalds.”
What to expect
The meal is only $6 and comes with a lot of food to feed one individual. Travis Scott has also partnered with other large companies recently, Fortnite being one of the most notable to offer exclusive in-game content that allows players to take their gaming experience to the next level.
