It was recently announced that acclaimed actress and host KeKe Palmer will be this year’s presenter for the 2020 MTV VMA awards. Palmer released the first promotional material for her VMAs hosting gig in which she tapped her alter ego “True Jackson.” This was done to announce her new hosting gig for the VMA’s as True Jackson offered to style the real KeKe Palmer for the award show in the short clip. The promo video was also released to promote the reboot of True Jackson on Nickelodeon Comedy.
The 2020 MTV VMA awards is set to take place in New York City, it will consist of performances scattered throughout the iconic five boroughs which make up the city. This decision was made to honor the resilience and spirit of the parts of the city which were impacted by the novel coronavirus the most.
Some of the artists confirmed to perform at this year’s VMA awards include Doja Cat, J Blavin, and BTS just to name a few. Governor of New York Andrew Cuomo stated that the event would take place at the Brooklyn Barclay’s Center in his city earlier this summer, and he also confirmed that the event will not have a large audience to stay compliant with all COVID-19 restrictions.
The 2020 VMA’s will be the very first event held at the Barclay’s center since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak. The 2020 MTV VMA’s will be produced by ViacomCBS Media Networks’ President of music programming and talent Bruce Gillmer.

The 2020 MTV Video Music Awards show is scheduled to take place on Sunday August 30th at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
